Il buen retiro fra gli abeti del nord america

Il progetto, chiamato Whidbey Island Farm, è una casa vacanze arroccata su una collina che domina i pascoli e uno stagno di pesca, nello Stretto di Puget a nord di Seattle.
Progettata dallo studio MW Works come abitazione "intenzionalmente modesta" è il buen retiro di una coppia anziana, la casa doveva essere flessibile, durevole e in grado di ospitare fino a 20 occupanti.

L'abitazione si mimetizza in un bosco di abeti di Douglas, i tre volumi rettilinei sono organizzati intorno a un cortile centrale attraversato da sentieri fra di arbusti e felci autoctone delimitato da un muretto di basalto locale.
"Il cortile diventa il collegamento visivo e fisico tra i diversi volumi, fornendo accesso e connessione, ma offrendo separazione e privacy".

Una tavolozza naturale di legno di cedro rosso stagionato, cemento, pietra estratta localmente e acciaio nero crea un ambiente caldo e familiare mentre le pareti completamente vetrate creano una connessione visiva tra l'interno e lo scenario bucolico
L'interno dell'abitazione ha colori tenui e finiture calde, pareti in gesso color crema, soffitti e pannelli in legno e un camino in pietra. Alcune porte e pezzi di arte murale sono realizzati con lastre di cedro scolpite decenni fa da uno dei clienti.
Nel complesso, la casa è progettata per essere longeva e con bassa manutenzione, l'involucro vetrato raggiunge gli standard della casa passiva.

The buen retiro among the firs of North America

The project, called Whidbey Island Farm, is a vacation home perched on a hill overlooking pastures and a fishing pond, in the Strait of Puget north of Seattle
Designed by the MW Works studio as an "intentionally modest" home, it is the buen retiro of an elderly couple, the house had to be flexible, durable and able to accommodate up to 20 occupants.

The house is camouflaged in a Douglas fir forest, the three straight volumes are organized around a central courtyard crossed by paths among native shrubs and ferns bordered by a local basalt wall.
"The courtyard becomes the visual and physical connection between the different volumes, providing access and connection, but offering separation and privacy".

A natural palette of seasoned red cedar wood, concrete, locally extracted stone and black steel creates a warm and familiar environment while the fully glazed walls create a visual connection between the interior and the bucolic scenery
The interior of the house has soft colors and warm finishes, cream plaster walls, ceilings and wooden panels and a stone fireplace. Some doors and pieces of mural art are made with cedar slabs carved decades ago by one of the customers.
Overall, the house is designed to be long-lived and with low maintenance, the glazed envelope reaches the passive house standards.

Un appartamento dal design total black

Decidere di scegliere un look total black per i nostri ambienti a volte ci fa esitare; questo appartamento di 53mq, situato in un vecchio edificio risalente al 1880, è stato invece ristrutturato in chiave dark ed il risultato è stupefacente. Il nero è stato adottato non solo in cucina, che forse rappresenta il modo più semplice per utilizzarlo, ma anche in soggiorno, in camera da letto, nella parete appunto dietro il letto e in bagno, per esaltare ogni ambiente con il suo tocco drammatico.

A total black design apartment

Deciding to choose a total black look for our rooms sometimes makes us hesitate; this 53sqm apartment, located in an old building dating back to 1880, has been renovated in a dark key and the result is amazing. Black has been adopted not only in the kitchen, which perhaps represents the easiest way to use it, but also in the living room, in the bedroom, on the wall just behind the bed and in the bathroom, to enhance every room with its dramatic touch.

Una piccola villa brutalista in Argentina

Casa F è un altro bell'esempio di architettura modernista sudamericana, progettata dagli architetti Gianserra + Lima arquitectos come casa unifamiliare per vacanze nella località balneare di Carilò, in Argentina.

La struttura brutalista in cemento a vista e legno è immersa nel verde, la pianta a U articola gli spazi giorno attorno ad un patio centrale che consente alla natura di entrare nella villa grazie a un gioco di spazi coperti e scoperti.

Casa F is another fine example of South American modernist architecture, designed by the architects Gianserra + Lima arquitectos as a single-family holiday home in the seaside resort of Carilò, Argentina.

The brutalist structure in exposed concrete and wood is surrounded by greenery, the U-shaped plan articulates the living spaces around a central patio that allows nature to enter the villa thanks to a play of covered and uncovered spaces.

Una casa con un giardino segreto

Chiamata Optical Glass House questa casa è stata progettata dall'architetto Hiroshi Nakamura, in uno stretto lotto di fronte ad una strada molto trafficata del centro di Hiroshima, in Giappone.
Una facciata in mattoni di vetro chiude il fronte principale, garantendo privacy e tranquillità e frammentando la vista della strada "Lo scenario sereno e silenzioso delle macchine e dei tram che passano conferisce ricchezza alla vita in casa" dice l'architetto.

La facciata sembra una cascata che scorre diffondendo luce e riempiendo l'aria di freschezza, per realizzarla sono stati utilizzati circa 6000 blocchi di vetro fusi appositamente che grazie alla loro elevata massa escludono efficacemente il suono e hanno consentono la creazione di un giardino sopraelevato con alberi di acero, frassino e agrifoglio, la luce del sole si rifrange attraverso il vetro creando meravigliosi schemi di luce, e consentendo ai residenti di godere della luce e di vivere nella consapevolezza delle mutevoli stagioni.

A house with a secret garden

Called Optical Glass House, this house was designed by architect Hiroshi Nakamura, in a narrow lot in front of a busy street in the center of Hiroshima, Japan.
A glass brick facade closes the main front, ensuring privacy and tranquility and fragmenting the view of the street "The serene and silent scenery of the passing cars and trams gives wealth to life in the house" says the architect.

The facade looks like a waterfall that flows spreading light and filling the air with freshness, to create it, about 6000 specially fused glass blocks have been used which, thanks to their high mass, effectively exclude sound and have allowed the creation of an elevated garden with trees of maple, ash and holly, the light of the sun is refracted through the glass creating wonderful patterns of light, and allowing residents to enjoy the light and live in awareness of the changing seasons.

Trasparenze Brasiliane

Il tema prevalente di questa casa costruita su un terreno molto ripido nei pressi di San Paolo, Brasile dall'architetto Fernanda Marques è la trasparenza;
aprire la casa al suo spazio circostante per catturare meglio la luce e creare viste spettacolari per gli occupanti da diversi punti di vista mantenendo un livello ideale di privacy per ogni ambiente.

Quasi interamente racchiusa da pannelli vetrati, la casa sembra essere immersa nel paesaggio circostante.

Brazilian transparencies

The prevailing theme of this house built on a very steep terrain near São Paulo, Brazil by the architect Fernanda Marques is the transparency;
opening the house to its surrounding space to better capture the light and create spectacular views for the occupants from different points of view maintaining an ideal level of privacy for each environment.

Almost entirely enclosed by glass panels, the house seems to be immersed in the surrounding landscape.
